I've cleaned mine several times and it lasts for a while and then turns the same dull brown again. It might just be the weathering of the natural rubber and nothing can be done except just keep clean

It's been a while since I put new rubber in, but I believe I just washed the rubber in hot water. I think the stuff had a wax base that would melt with the heat and wash away. Bill B
