- There was a great how to repair the bakelite in Automobile Restorer (one of the few mags worth subscribing to) that showed how to repair a wheel. When I get home this weekend I will try and find it.

- To give you some idea for comparison of replacement or restoring...if you have an original Alpine-Tiger wheel where the bakelite is typically cracked and the wood needs refinishing, but isn't broken

- If you want an original steering wheel be prepared to pay big bucks. I've seen wheels listed for $400-$700. Restoration specials are less, $75-$150. I am in the process of restoring an original wheel
