That the car should run only with the choke pulled all the way out, yet three of the plugs showed very sooty, suggests lots of problems, I'm afraid! so, I'll just answer the last two questions......

Mike, have you changed the needle and seat? Pulled out the float and shake it to see if it has a pin hole leak? Reset the fork to 1/8 clearence? If this doesn"t work, then follow the experts. Mike

I don't have my SU manual in front of me, but there's an easy way to tell. What is the diameter of the outlet hole? 1 1/2 is standard. Is the float chamber internal (HIF=horizontal integrated float)
