After numerous attempts, and one trashed set of carbs, I think I solved the problem. I got the leak down to a minor weep but out of the gasket from the bowl/lid. I used a new gasket, an old gasket, b

Early aluminum flap covered vent AND later brass nipple vent. 2 of each, all 4 leaked gas out of the vent like a stuck float valve. All 4 had many different float valves. 2 gaskets fixed it, I didn'y

Ok, so they're fixed, but what I don't understand is why they only leaked at certain RPM's? The fuel pump pressure is independent of engine speed so why didn't they leak all the time? Tim Collins 19

What vent pipe? What washer? They vent via a hole under where the fuel hose goes. Early carbs used an aluminum diverter sort of clipped to the neck, later used a pipe for the hose to the charcoal fil
