Well, it should be no more trouble than putting any engine designed for a transverse, front drive application into a longitudianl rear drive application. As I recall, SAAB only did some minor things,

FYI - The 99 and 900's were longitudinal mounted, not transverse, front drivers. Jack Brooks TR3, TR8, 1988 Saab 9000S

Personally, I think they should have been vertically mounted...as in the entire car dropped nose-first into a deep hole. :-) Seriously, I like my 99 a lot, but it was a horribly expensive car to main

The TR-7 engine was first built for SAAB. They paid for the prototype and the production of that engine. Lots of 24 hour continous testing was involved cause they ( the project) hogged the dynos for
