As an postscript to my earler post about installing a Sebring front valance, several people inquired about the street legality of removing the bumper. I'm not sure about the technical legality of the

I recently (several weeks ago) installed a new Ansa exhaust on my '80 B. I really thought the car sounded like an old VW bug after the Ansa was installed. That metallic sounding noise I always associ

Is the VW sound you're talking about that weird high-pitched noise you feel in the back of your neck when you're following a VW at highway speeds? <Shudder!> That would drive me nuts. -- David Brenem

Yep, that's the one... I *hate* that noise... Seems a shame to have to replace a brand-new exhaust, but it gets on my nerves bigtime! -- -- Marc Siegel, Charm Net LLC eMail: smarc@abs.net Baltimore,

It's my understanding that the VW chirp is from the distributor, and happens because it hasn't been lubricated correctly. This could be totally bogus, but it's what I've been told. /// or try http:/

Chuck Renner SEZ - I know I could always hear it before I saw the car. If it's the distributor, it would have to be putting out an awful lot of noise to overcome 60-70 MPH wind and a distance of a co

Well, One reason I didn't choose the Peco is that it's only a single muffler, no resonator. I didn't want it too be too loud. My '73 has only the stock muffler - no resonator, accidentally smushed it

I'd describe the Peco as not really any louder, but a little deeper in tone. Definitely better sounding than the original (at least to my ears). Getting it to fit right took a little effort, but work

Hmmm... I don't know. I haven't heard a stock system with no resonator, but the Peco sounds really, really nice to me. It's throaty to be sure, and louder than stock by a significant factor, but not

I concur. The thing I like most about the Peco tone and volume, is it's only loud when you kind of want it to be. That is to say, you really have to get on it before it rumbles loudly. /// or try htt

That "VW" sound may well be an exhaust leak. I recently installed a Peco header & system & due to the width of my fuel cell it doesn't fit very well. The inner front of the muffler rides against the

Which makes sense, because the muffler is just a straight through pipe with the can of sound deadening material around it. No baffles whatsover... <<<<snip>>> Sounds like the Cherry Bomb in my TD. :
