There must be a trick to it. I've spent three hours trying to get the top bolt in the rear shock of a '80 Spit. As you may know, the shaft (bolt) is an extremely tight fit with the rubber bushing of

Ed, I'm not sure what the problem is, but I always put the top bolt in first. That way the shock can be moved to accomodate the insertion of the bolt. Then jack up the suspension to put the lower sho

Be sure you are using the correct bushing. I once got shock bushings mixed up with A-arm bushings and had an identical problem. Check the ID on the old and new parts. John Reynolds 1979 Spitfire --
