You can use Auto Transmission Fluid, 20wt or even 30wt motorcycle fork oil or the (20wt) damper oil available through the usual sources. No, you can't use conventional 90wt gear oil in your gearbox.

Doesn't regualr oil attack the seals in the shocks, also? I thought anything used in British lever shocks had to be a mineral-based oil. I use 50w when I can find it. Scott Meyers 60 Bugeye 1275

The fuild in the shocks can be refilled using 20wt motorcycle shock oil. Do not use 90wt oil or you will probably bust the shock bodies in no time. As for the gear box in an A-series ribcase, motor

Don't be fearful of replacing front shocks, if it's the same as on a '74 Midget that is. Don't tighten anything until all the bolts are started is one rule, and I found that connecting the lever arm

According to Valvoline, it's more than a rumor. They tesed their own product and specifically told me not to use their gear oil or anybody else's in our trannies. As you wrote, it attacks the soft, y
