Hi Arden. If you have the type that have little nubs, I ground off the top portion, and punched then through with a small punch. If it is the insert type, then just use a pair of needle noise pliers

I'm afraid that if you have the original pop rivets, they will have to removed. It is almost impossible to put on a coat of paint that is thin enough to allow the strips to engage again. SS has plast
