Head Gasket? Check your compression. Could be a small leak and the water in the cylinder(s) may be what is making it difficult to start at first. Just a thought. You in Tennessee? --David C. /// unsu

Reiterating a bit, but How about a compression check before disturbing the suspected head gasket seal? If you don't get the compression values before pulling the head, you may never really know what

Another, less sure way, to get information is to remove the radiator cap then start up the engine. If the water blows out of the radiator (like mine has done) it is a pretty good bet you have a blown
