I am in the process of replacing a bad real wheel bearing and just discovered that my 1-1/4" socket is too small and my 1-3/8" socket won't fit in the wire wheel hub. Apprently, the nut is 1-5/16". W

I think some people have reported the Craftsman doesn't fit (too big O.D.). I used to have one that does, I think it might be Thorsen brand. I would take a careful measurement before going socket sho

The Snap-On 1-5/16" fits just fine. There are a few other brands that also fit, but I can't remember them just now. Following Paul Hunt's lead, I have removed my axle shafts by placing steel wedges b

The 3/4" drive socket I have does not fit on the wire wheel hub. I ordered a 1/2" drive 1 5/16" black metal socket from a tool company (Grainger) that worked well. Hope this helps. -James ___________

IIRC, I used a 34mm hub socket purchased at a local auto parts. Took a couple of trips to get the right one. Yup, I used a couple of cold chisels as wedges, alternating blows with hammer till the hub
