I really hate to ask a question that appears to be this stupid, but I will. With that as a warning, how do you remove the spark plug closest to the front of the engine (plug #1 ?) on a 77 Midget. The

Don't pull the alternator. Just loosen and remove the belt from the pulley. Taket the top bolt out and flor it over towards the wheel well. If anyone has a better option PLEASE tell me. Larry Macy 7

You can't believe that #1 is the answer? Believe it. Actually, you don't need to >>remove<< the alternator. Just loosen it, take the belt off, disconnect it from the upper bracket, and swing it down

I normally slide the socket over the plug and use an adjustable wrench on the socket to loosen the plug. Remove the plug and take out by hand (works great when the engine is cold or at best a bit wa

I've gotten it out using a standard socket and a "U"-joint handle. Turns out I've used a similar combo on many other places on the 78 Midget...... MD adjusted following one is the well.

I remove the belt and swing the alternator out of the way, Look for some Platinum plugs they are good for 100,000 miles.
