Howdy. The angle drive on the back of the speedo seized up on me a while back, destroying my brand new cable. So, I want to remove it and route the cable straight through the firewall. No problem, bu

Do you have enough slack in the cable? I've barely got enough to reach the angle drive, much less adding a big loop behind there. But thanks--I'll give that a look. If that works it'll save me alot o

You didn't say what year/model you have. If you can, try to buy a new cable that is longer than your original. That will facilitate a little more slack in the cable and do without the angle drive. St

Mine is a 1280, while a 1000 is correct. I've got access to a 1000 which I can trade for my 1280, but I can't do that until next week so I'm trying to get some speedo to keep me running in the meanti

Hmmm, I don't think any drilling is required. If you get the longer cable (I think for OD cars), just route it the usual way and you will have enough slack on the end to fit it to the transmission wi

Both of my '73 GT's (one non-O/D and one O/D ) had one on them when the cars were purchased. I think it's more a matter of which speedo cable someone used and weather it was convenient to use one or
