The correct speedometer for the correct o/d (black label) is the 1280 series. Look for the 4 digit number below the 120 mph mark. And for your previous post, the LE wheels should be painted a dark c

Thanks for the info Eric. I do have a 1280 series which was working fine before I did the O/D conversion, now it seems to be registering at least a 15mph difference? Mark Ascherl 1972 Red MGB series.

They did not have different speedos for the o/d cars. All cars I've seen (68 - 74) used the 1280 series speedo. In 1975, the o/d cars went to 1000 tpm (turns per minute) due to the slight changes in

Check the tag (solenoid cover) on your o/d unit. Is it blue or black? Your car (72) should have had a black label, requiring the 1280 speedo. If you used a blue label o/d, then your speedo is turnin
