Has anyone out there found a "chemical" way of removing the factory finish from the wood dashboards. I am afraid to sand very much in case the finish layer of venier is super thin. My dash is cracked

There is a chemical method of removing it, nitro-glycerine, although there won't be much left. I have tried everything on it including car paint stripper, household paint stripper. Sanding.. The best

The VTR web pages have a good description for re-finishing the dash but they recommend a paint stripper. Since you have used one or two, I don't know what else would help. I agree with you that you s
