I have been trying to figure out the starting problem on my Spitfire for quite awhile now. My problem all started with a hole in the intake manifold. I had driven it to work - about 45 miles. The las

but at the spark plug wires How far will the spark jump? If it can jump 3/4" or so, the ignition circuit is probably OK. Does starting fluid help at all? any evidence of flooding? Are you sure the pl

Good questions. I just checked the plug wire resistance. On two sets the resistance is in 7 k ohms range. The third set is in the 650 ohms range. Which should be right? The coil spark will probably j

They are probably both OK. The resistance is deliberately added to reduce radio interference. The odds of all 4 wires failing is pretty remote :-) Maybe you have a shorted distributor cap or rotor, s

I've never used a whistle like you describe, but I'm thinking it's possible you have the distributor shaft (and therefore the rotor) 180 degrees off. Some air will pass through the spark plug hole wh
