- Hi all. First, thanks for all the advice in the past (lites, carb, etc.) it seems like someone out there really does know everything. this time I seem to have a dying/dead starter on my Spit (1976).

- Yup, it's bearings are shot and most likely, the armature is rubbing on the pole pieces. However, there's no way a new unit should've failed that fast, I'd have a talk with BPN. Not likely, IMO. Sor

- I just recently had the *exact* same experience with a starter. This was on '66 mk2. The starter was definitely bad. I picked up a replacement (rebuilt Lucas) with a lifetime guarantee at AutoZone. T

- Not the same, but somewhat similar. However, I would be most surprised if this bushing will interchange, and Moss doesn't list one for the Spit. 149-400 won't even fit my earlier TR3A starter, but I
