I am wondering where the Spitfire Axles are prone to failure. I recently pulled the axles out of my Chevy pickup and discovered that they are not all that much larger than the ones on my Mk1 Spit. I

The early Spitfire diffs are the main problem (up to axle number FC120,000 - the change was in 1967 when the Herald 13/60 came out with the bigger shafts) as the inner shafts will shear with abuse.

John, As you may recall, I am using a Quaife LSD and it is common knowledge (you told me this) that the Quaife will not work with the early Diff. This covers me on all the issues you mention. Recentl

Joe, How do you like the axle system Clive made up for you? Perhaps this situation might be a good candidate also. My set seems to handle all the punishment I can give it in a race setting. Kevin / C
