I have a Moss Sport Coil installed on my 72 MGB and find that it just gives better overall performance. I only drive on club event type rallies and so forth. I think it improves starting and running.

Take a look at this website Rick has done a pretty good job of talking about many electrical questions and provides some great answers to many questions including use of higher performance coils. ht

Interesting. I'd like the chart better if it included the turns ratio of each coil. The coil that the conclusions section likes best - with a ballast R - bears a # that doesn't appear anywhere else.
