Hey All, Is there a Rustoleum, Krylon, etc., spray paint color that is close to the original paint color? I was hoping to respray some wire wheels this weekend without having to order the paint from

I painted my wire wheels a couple of years ago after bead blasting them. I used Rustoleum cold galvanizing as the primer, then top-coated with Rustoleum "matte nickel". I think they look pretty good

Isn't that the rust proof stuff with the label that says not to use it as a primer or under other paint?

No, it just says "no top coat needed", like most zinc coatings or zinc chromates. It takes paint fine and holds up nicely, I've been using for more years than I can remember.

I'll have to check out the Rustoleum. I have a few different brands of cold galv. at the shop, and they're all very specific about DO NOT APPLY TOPCOAT OR USE AS A PRIMER. If Rustoleum makes one I c

That's interesting. I'm not sure if I've used any other brands as a primer. Rustoleum does make a shiney kind of galvanizing that I sometimes use when not top coating.

I've used Krylon's "Argent Silver" (very bright) then "dulled" the finish by topcoating with Krylon non-yellowing Clear. Not exactly the "right" factory color but close enough (for me, anyway:). Cap'

Per Frank, I did all of my wires with the Matte Nickel Rustoleum a few months ago after having them bead blasted. They came out beautiful though I can't speak for the durability yet except to say the
