How do you know when the crank and cam sprockets are no longer serviceable? Don't they last virtually forever if properly aligned? Thanks. Rick Orthen 72 TR6

Rick--Proper alignment to the two sprockets is good insurance for long sprocket life. However, worn (stretched out) chains can speed up wear of the sprocket teeth. This is usually visable if the teet

Rick--I do not throw good parts away. There's over 300,000 miles on the original sprockets, and on the second replacement (double) chain. There is virtually no slack, verified by watching the timing
