I've got the reverse symptom, but the same problem- my switch is worn so the switch and tumbler aren't quite aligned right. When my engine catches, I have to coax the switch back just a bit to keep

It's possible the problem is in the ignition switch, but since it keeps running when the key is returned to the on position the problem may be in the starter solenoid. If the problem is in the switc

Nothing you can do with starter on the car. Do you also have the problem of the starter spinning but not engaging? That would suggest the pinion gear is binding on the shaft. Time to rebuild or repl
