- Several times. It hasn't happened since I've asked for pre-purchase tests. Last time I got a bad one it was coming from Dayton, OR to FL. The parts guy (British Parts NW) was good enough to 2nd day

- suprise!!!!!!!! it sounds like you got one of those labeled "rebuilt" starters that are actually just repainted used pieces packaged up after a brief test on the bench and a fresh coat of shine spray

- Not exactly local, but there is a guy in San Francosco that will. He's good and he's quite reasonable. Rebuilt my Volvo alternator for about 1/2 to 1/3 of buying a rebuilt, gave it back to me in one
