Since I did something similar, I think its quite plausible. First, take the solenoid off the first starter (the one with the audible click). You will see how it comes apart plus you can inspect it. W

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have opted just to put a rebuilt on it rather than risk spending the time swapping the solenoid and then having the brushes go bad. My functioning starter is of unkn
