The first 1/8 inch of threads on the steering column of my sprite are damaged and I can't get the nut on to hold the steering wheel on. It's not a major thing but it would be nice to have a nut there

Thread file, its a small square file with different threads on each side, match it up and file the threads back into shape.

If the problem is that the first few threads are mangled, you can always carefully file the offending threads flat and cut a proper "ramp" into the good threads.
