There's a hundred ways to explain and to get the distributor roughly right. Here's one that requires no theory. All plugs out. Distrib cap off. Car in gear roll forward, with one finger on the front

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but the firing order may be out of whack. Also there seems to be a problem lately with Lucas rotors and/or caps. This drove me crazy last August. Hop

Good point. I got two bad ones in a row. Make sure the center button is still in the cap. Of course if you have fire at the plugs then this is not the problem. Larry Miller rotors was a cover flames

If this engine ran before, I'd question why/how the cam timing got two teeth off. And in fact, was it off. WFO
