You don't say if you have checked for a spark when the car won't start - you should. If the car cuts out while running then I would tend not to suspect the carb (the black smoke when it finally does

you say it starts fine but dies when it gets warm. Also a lot of unburnt gas comes out of the exhaust. I say somehow your Weber is creating a rich mixture. What kind of choke circuit does it have? C

One way to check the coil is very simple. Run the car until it stumbles or dies. CAREFULLY put one hand on the coil. If it's hot, it's suspect, especially if it is hotter than, say, the valve cover.
