How about this upgrade - The gerbil would still work at low speeds, but at track speeds have a windmill driven pump as the airflow over the car can drive it. You could also mount it on a moving brack

Buy a treadwheel and a hamster at your local pet store and attach it to the pump pulley. This way you will have a back-up system in case the pump fails. Just remember to make shure the hamster have a
