I have heard of cases where an old engine with old seals will begin to leak after synthetic oil has been used. The idea is that the synthetc oil cleans out the gunk that has been keeping the old seal

I use synthetic oils, however, frequent changes are still good to remove the byproducts of combustion in the oil, some stuff does get by the rings from time to time also, dont break in a new motor on
