I've been using Mobil 1 15w50 in both my MG's for years and have not experienced any additional leaks. I still change oil every 3k miles or so, which may be unnecessary, but it gives me greater peace

Don't know where you've been. Synthetic 20W50 hs been out for several years. Synthetic oil does not leak any more or less than mineral oil. Synthetic oils have a lower surface tension for easier flow
