I am putting my radiator back in my TD... there are 4 rubber bushing / grommets with steel rings around them the radiator is to be fitted with... my question is do two go on top of the cross member (

One rubber on top of the cross member, one under on each side. So two on top, two on the bottom in total. Then a large 3/8" flat washer, 3/8" lock washer and 3/8" BSF nut tightened just enough to sl

Bob is right on the money. However, I'll add that steel rings are placed around the lower edge of the bottom grommets, just above the large flat washer, to reduce any 'mushrooming' effect. Bud Krueg

Actually the steel rings go on all four rubbers to stop excess mushrooming. Bob Grunau Blair, Bob is right on the money. However, I'll add that steel rings are placed around the lower edge of the bot

When I removed the radiator first time there was one set above and one set below the cross member. That's how I replaced them and the radiator shell remained in same position relative to the splash
