My TD runs with lighter weight oil in the winter here in PA. I changed to 20/50 wt. yesterday and my pressure guage is doing some "crazy" things. My pressure usually shows about 45# with both 10/30 a

Maybe some little piece of detritus is partially blocking off the oil pressure sensor. Stick a direct acting guage on the engine to check it out. CR

Is there a definitive "correct" oil pressure for a TD? I use 20/50 Castrol in the crankcase and the pressure reads 40-45lbs. when cold and 25-35lbs when hot and running. Steve 52 TD

Ther seem to be a lot of schools of thought on that subject. I can only tell you about mine. I rebuilt the bottom end about 3,000 miles ago. Fully warmed up, it runs at about 50-55 psi at about 3500

Good day all! My TD normally runs with 40 psi of oil pressure. It's now 20 degrees F. here in South Central PA. I would expect the pressure to read at least 40psi in cold weather but it reaches just

I wouldn't think that the ambient air temperature would make much difference to the oil pressure once the engine was warmed up to operating temperature. Paul

Any drop in oil pressure is cause for concern. 20w50 is an excellent grade oil to run in XPAG engines. However, it may be a little thick for 20F (I also am domiciled here in S.E.Pa, just south of Pot

On the subject of oils, I also do not recommend Penzoil. I have seen many cars with extensive sludge formation and all had Penzoil in common. We use Quaker State oil at the shop and have been very pl
