- I am new on the list and have a few TR-6 questions. The water pump on my '72 has a small hole in the casting about where the bearing would be. Is this hole for greasing bearing? Does the orientation

- That is the weep hole on the pump. When fluid begins to pour from that hole it is a sure sign that your pump seal is gone and thus the pump needs replacement. This is a contrast from the normal stat

- It is so, but it used to be the hole for the grease nipple in the days where you needed (or could ) grease the pump.

- The hole you are referring to is called a "weep" hole. It is there to allow any water that gets past the mechanical seal to weep out without contaminating the bearing and causing a siezure. Kind of g
