Mucky? As in lots of rusty sludge in suspension? Don't know about 250s, but the 3 engines have been known to get pretty plugged up with this stuff and a less than thorough rebuild might not remedy it

Indeed, the TR3 temp guage shows values [90-185-230] and is pretty accurate. Easy to verify here in Tucson where the air is often is hot enough that a "cold" engine will show the actual outside temp.
