I know there are different orders of assembly. Why shouldn't I follow this 1. mount the gearbox to the prepared frame 2. mount the engine to the prepared frame & gearbox. 3. mount the tub to the prep

Its awkward as all-get-out. The frame will not support the gearbox, you'll have to support it separately, and I don't believe the engine will slide into place unless the front of the gearbox is tilt

Mount the gear box to the engine and you will have front and rear mounts to align and steady the installation, been ther etc....
