- I have a question about this. You say the system uses HFC-134a. I know that the US has outlawed production of certain types of freon. Is this one of them? JHD IV

- John, R-12 is outlawed in the US. R-134a is the new approved refrigerant. It is not a direct replacement for R-12 although some R-12 systems can be converted to use R-134a. Chad
