More likely 27 years (or some portion thereof) of corrosion and such have taken their toll on the various connections from battery to solenoid (relay) to starter. Try cleaning them all and see what h

Sounds like the lepricans got to your starter ring on the fly-wheel to me, easy fix just pull the tranny to get to the fly-wheel. Chet
