- My TR7 is backfiring each time I shift; not horribly, but slightly. The car had been in storage for a while before I got it, so I put some carby cleaner in it, and I am still on the first tank of gas

- I seem to recall that carb cleaner in Zenith Stromberg carbs is a bad idea (attacks the rubber diaphragm and other bits like that). I've never ever used the stuff in my TR7 for the 8 years I had it.

- Check your smog pump air diverter valve. When I've had this problem, its when the smog equipment is failing, the hose is disconnected,or the valve is shot. I seem to recall that carb cleaner in Zeni
