If possible, you might try setting the meter somewhere you can see it from the driver's seat and then rev the engine to a few different values and compare the readings to see if there is a consistenc

1100 to 1900 is a ratio of about .6. Allowing for error, this sounds like what would happen if your meter was set for 6 cyl. rather than four. 4 to 6 is a ratio of about .7. Just a thought... rick
