Ok, why does the tach drive unit sound like a rod knock? I already replaced the generator tail bushing. The guts of the tach gear unit are greased and there is no play on either gear shaft. Disconnec

I've rebuilt mine twice...actually the local machine shop re-sleeved the barrel. On mine, I think it was an end-play problem, especially as I tended to over-tightened the nut or collar to the dynamo
