Oh yeah, I recall this bugger. There is some kind of cam or plunger or spring-loaded dingus that you have to pry up in order to separate them. I recommend you look closely at the diagrams in the Bent

just Phil, I separated the overdrive at the brake ring (must also remove the flange) . That gave me access to the snap spring. I didn't have to use a hammer, just an old dull screwdriver to slid the
