The factory installed no return spring, external or otherwise, on Tigers. It is a good idea though to install one to ensure that the throwout bearing doesn't ride on the clutch release fork. Here is

Are you sure Tigers never had pullback springs? I thought I read something about the later ones (which mine is) getting these springs, and mine had one the last time I serviced the clutch slave. Coul
