I drilled a few small (1/8th inch) holes in my Thermostat and now it doesn't get stuck. The holes allow for pressure equalization. Gary C 1966 1600

I believe Mike is right, and remember reading previous threads on the list about the problem of no thermostat. Basically, you get a mix of hot and cold spots in the cylinder head that cause warpage.

I cant speak for roadsters or older cars but... Ive been a mechanic since 86,cars with a stuck open thermostat or missing thermostat dont run as well. Engines tend to run better at a specific temp. K

Hi Nathan, Um,.. I dont mean to be a smarty pants but why not take your old thermostat down to Grand Auto or whatever, find a 180 degree one that matches and pop it in?? It'll cost you under 5 bucks

What thermostat is recommended? Last night I ordered a 192 degree (that's what was listed in their system) "failsafe" thermostat at the local parts store? They had 170 ande 180 degree units but only

Most people run 180 in the winter and then sometimes switch to 160 if you live somewhere where it gets hot in the summer. Then some people say that if you ahve a non-smog engine you only need the 16
