confirm this. With ignition off, take a baseline compression check. Add a couple of tablespoons of oil to each cylinder and retest. If pressure on #1 increases, the problem is piston rings. If it do

You're right, I was used to listing them backwards verbally for dramatic effect. Right in 1... the #1 piston has broken rings, and the lands (??) where the rings sit have broken for about 2 inches. R
