It looks like the back flange of the crankshaft is cupped by wear. The thrust washers are entirely missing from their regular location. In other words, it looks like a mess Apparently the PO had a Th

Didn't the Amphicar use a Triumph albeit non-Spitfire engine? Sounds like just the thing for a road trip to Hawaii. :) Hawaii...... plan a "road trip"!!!!!!!!!

It was a Herald engine, so for all practical purposes the same as a Spitfire. However, I wouldn't want to trust my life to an Amphicar mere than a feet from shore, much less than across an ocean!! :)
