Just a question for the readers to comment on. Does the trend towards powder coating every piece and or epoxy painting, introduce the risk that future fatigue cracks and or rust will be hidden by the

And...some listers have written in about having powder coating that they could scrape right off. I thought the stuff was supposed to be like iron. I realize that the process might be different from

Most of the powder coatings I've seen require a decent amount of work to remove. There are different products but I'm not totally familiar with the range of coatings available but I have read that so

And that my point. Coatings and Imron type paints may look nice but they hide what's underneath. Its a crack that begins months after the finish that is the problem. The cross member article on Tiger

For about 5 years, my local Vintage Racing Club, SOVREN, has recommended (but not mandated) suspension parts should NOT be powdercoated, because of potentially hidden cracks developing. Jim Leach Pa

As Theo pointed out different temps are used for powder coating. As a standard rule we bake at a temp between 475 and 500. These same powders can be applied at 750 but they produce a brittle product
