Whall, I have 165/70R13's on Wire Wheels. I have room to put a bigger tire on the wires than what is there. I think the steel wheel is a wider wheel so that may make a diff on tire size that will fit

I also run 175/70R13's, occasional front rub under heavy braking turns but that may be other suspension stuff as I have not investigated it. For maximum grip on dry pavement, check out Yokohama A032R

I would add that simply fitting wider wheels and tyres will not necessarily make your spridget handle any better. If you spend some money on suspension upgrades and stay with the existing wheel/tyre
