I already talked to Nate Jones,It turns out what I want is tire "buffing", not shaving. Shaving is done on the rim, buffing is done off the rim. Buffing is the preparation step in recapping tires. T

There is/was a tire place in Lakewood, CA that did tire shaving (I think they were a recapper), does anyone know their address? Jim in Palmdale

I dunno about Lakewood, CA, but Nate Jones Tire Company is on page 204 of the 2004 rulebook, and he does tire shaving and he does go to the Salt (brought my new tire with him to SpeedWeek last year,

Saw tire groovers on Yahoo - The tool warms the ruber as a V shaped blade does its work - The tool probably heats too slowly to use for shaving a tire- Could the blades do the cutting in a lathe ?
