Doug, That is one reason both of my trucks have turbo 400's in them. Also I have changed over several of my friends trucks from the 700r4 to the TH 400. One of the other Dougs /// /// land-speed@auto

Doug, Have you had experience with the Turbo-350 as a race transmission? We had our C-4 reworked by John Kilgore Transmissions in the LA area (SCTA Rulebook advertiser) to improve the ratios. The loc

Doug, I have built the two TH 350's that I run. I had John make me a different second gear for the trans I run behind the E motor. The trans I run behind the C motor is the stock ratios. I run the re

I finally got a chance to pull the rear end out of my car and open it up. Now that I know, for sure, what the gear ratio is (3.79:1), assuming my tachometer was correct, it appears that I lost about

Definitely something you have to factor in when running an automatic. And race type (high stall) converters slip more than stock ones. JB -- Original Message -- From: "Dick J" <lsr_man@yahoo.com> To:

I would say yes, Dick. Did you factor in tire growth due to centrifugal force at speed, and a small percentage for tire slip (even on concrete)? Cheers Bill

If the torque converter slips 5%, isn't that close to the same as running a final drive ratio that is 5% lower? Put another way, since I am sure I was using max HP at my speed, if I had been running

Did not factor in slippage or tire growth. Regarding tire growth, my tire man insists that a steel belted tire will not grow? Dick J But I guess my theoretical thoughts are close. == * * * * * * * *

At 65 MPH he might be right, but at 240 MPH, I can assure you that, tires grow a bunch.

If you were running a 4-speed as an example your top speed would have been slightly higher at the same engine RPM by whatever percentage the converter slips. JB -- Original Message -- From: "Dick J"

Wellll, I don't think I have to worry 'bout that 240MPH, but I (thankfully) will be adding a little factor to allow for something over 65MPH. Thanks Dick J -- John Beckett <landspeedracer@email.msn.c
