If you lower the diff ratio you might be able to get to the point where 2nd is as low as first used (almost to be) and in this way use 2nd and 3rd. The very low ratios are high to find (the 5.3 ratio

Go to a different diff and move it to 2nd/3rd. Use a 5.3 diff if you have BTW, you'll then find the gap between 2nd/3rd is too wide but at least you'll be able to change smoothly. The only fix to the
